Panna 1078 Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee
Myriads of heavens do not equal the Lord’s Name. The spiritually wise forsake mere liberation. The One Universal Creator Lord is found through the True Guru. I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to the Blessed Vision of the Guru’s Darshan. ||8||
Note: Gurbani.org uses the word “poor(ਗ਼ਰੀਬ) liberation” instead of “mere liberation”
Panna 325 Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee
Ga▫oṛī Kabīr jī. Jo jan parmiṯ parman jānā. Bāṯan hī baikunṯẖ samānā. ||1||
Gauree, Kabeer Jee: He claims to know the Lord, who is beyond measure and beyond thought; by mere words, he plans to enter heaven. ||1||
Nā jānā baikunṯẖ kahā hī. Jān jān sabẖ kahėh ṯahā hī. ||1|| rahā▫o.
I do not know where heaven is. Everyone claims that he plans to go there. ||1||Pause||
Kahan kahāvan nah paṯī▫a▫ī hai. Ŧa▫o man mānai jā ṯe ha▫umai ja▫ī hai. ||2||
By mere talk, the mind is not appeased. The mind is only appeased, when egotism is conquered. ||2||
Jab lag man baikunṯẖ kī ās. Ŧab lag ho▫e nahī cẖaran nivās. ||3||
As long as the mind is filled with the desire for heaven, he does not dwell at the Lord’s Feet. ||3||
“Do all religions lead to God” in SPN prompted me to post part of the shabads above.
Links above provide the complete shabad for readers perusal.
Sikhism101.com has an article on this very subject titled “If all Paths are equal then why was the Sikh religion started?” http://www.sikhism101.com/node/134
A beautiful shabad and very appropriate for the discussion. We have another live one at SPN. I suppose that if the “live ones” all clammed up then the forum would be very dull.
But Oh! So rude! So unwilling to let go even for a minute to see a different angle!
Yes why was the Sikh religion started? Because up to the point when Guru Nanak Started It — what ever wisdom had been accrued had been wasted.
Gee I wish you were online more with us…You always have these wonderful Internet links and resources at your finger tips.
Love and regards, jio

LOL “live ones”.. You have your work cut out there.
Your comment “Yes why was the Sikh religion started? Because up to the point when Guru Nanak Started It — what ever wisdom had been accrued had been wasted.”
So true.
In addition: wisdom was not noted down by their prophets or wisdom noted down was lost – if whatever was noted down, manipulated on by the nefarious characters – wasnt put across correctly by some co called prophets and therefore not understood by followers (the ‘heaven’ concept being one – and many many many more reasons …
I have just posted the Sikhism101 article and also a link to your blog on the thread.
Keep us on our toes, bhenji
